Professional Reeds are made to exacting specifications of tone, intonation, and response. Reeds should be free-blowing and up to pitch. Professional reeds are designed to be played in ensemble settings, therefore requiring a vibrant and complex sound. Professional reeds are made on natural cork staples. Cork grease may be required for initial use.
Student/Intermediate Reeds are made with similar exacting expectations of tone, intonation, and response but will have less resistance than professional reeds. Student/Intermediate reeds are tied on synthetic cork staples.
Reeds are made over the course of multiple days and are meticulously tested. Thread color is variable. If you have a specific request, Cactus Reeds can try to accommodate based on availability.
